Our weekly meetings consist of games, hikes, crafts, woodworking projects, tours of municipal buildings, etc. Our pack goes on three camps a year (fall, winter and spring). Our winter camp is held in heated cabins. This camp is one of the cub’s favourite as we do lots of sliding and skating and hiking. Some of our camps have included a bike camp and a soapbox derby camp. Every three years we go to a regional camp, which will host 700+ cubs. Each year we work on cub cars and race the cars at the area level amongst 100+ cars. In the fall we have apple day. We also assist the Legion in selling poppies. In the spring we plant trees through the Trees for Canada program.
2nd Kemptville Beavers year consists of your usual getting ready for investiture and tail ceremonies for September and half of October. Then of course, we get ready for Halloween. We now have quite a party at our meeting hall.
In November, we usually do a penny drive and adopt a couple of animals from the World Wildlife Federation and work on endangered animals, especially a good craft.
Decembers is getting ready for Christmas, and especially visiting the Seniors at Bayfield manor with a gift and sing to them and then we have a Christmas Party to close off the year.
January and February are quiet months when we just play games and do crafts and sometimes to get out of the winter blahs, we have a Beach Party.
March we try to go out skating (depending on the weather), prepare for Easter (depending on when it falls) and this year we are visiting the firehall in Kemptville. We have an Easter Egg Hunt the Wednesday before Easter and we will do it around Masonic Hall.
April and May, we try to do outdoor things like park cleanup, outdoor games, hikes and we finish with a campfire at Malek's house. This year in April we are organizing a Beaver Buggy Rally for the Area which will be held at the community centre in Kemptville. There is also a Council Beaveree/Sleepover this year which we plan to attend.
In June we do try to have a family camp for anyone and we do change from year to year where it will be held.
